What is included in a deep cleaning?

It takes two to three times a standard visit because almost none of it is wiping. Degreasing a range hood, dissolving hard-water film off a glass shower door and detailing grout are dwell-time jobs — the product has to sit, then the surface gets worked, then it gets rinsed and dried.
That is also why a deep clean is usually the right first appointment. Once the build-up is gone, a recurring crew can hold the house with a normal visit instead of quietly falling behind every cycle.
In New England there is a seasonal version of this: a house closed up from November to April collects heating dust on every ledge, salt and sand at the entries, and window tracks full of winter grit. A spring deep clean is the single visit that resets all of it.

A deep clean is thorough, not unlimited. These items need a specialist, a different trade or a separate visit, and we would rather say so now.

- Wall washing beyond spot-cleaning marks
- Duct cleaning inside the ductwork itself

- Attics, crawl spaces and unfinished basements

What drives the price?
A deep clean is priced on how much time the detail work will take, which comes down to these variables rather than a per-square-foot table.
- Square footage
- More trim, more floor, more window tracks. Footage is the starting point because every detail task scales with it.
- Number of bathrooms
- Grout and glass are the two slowest tasks in the whole service, and both live in bathrooms. Bath count moves a deep-clean quote more than anything else.
- Condition at the start
- Light seasonal dust is a different job from years of cooking grease on a hood and hard-water scale on three shower doors. We ask for photos of the kitchen and baths for this reason.
- Oven and fridge interiors
- Both are optional and both are slow. Tell us up front whether you want them so the quote and the time block are honest.
- Pets
- Hair works into upholstery seams, baseboard edges and vent covers, and each of those needs a separate pass during a deep clean.
- Access and parking
- Stairs without an elevator, no place to park a loaded vehicle, or a building that requires check-in all add time before the first surface is touched.
- Occupied or empty
- In an occupied home we work around belongings and reschedule rooms as they free up. Emptier rooms are faster, which is reflected in the price.
- Furniture we can move
- Cleaning behind and under things is part of the job, but only where a two-person crew can shift them safely. Heavy built-ins limit how much of that is possible.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a deep cleaning take?
Two to three times a standard visit for the same home. A small condo can be four to five hours; a family house with three bathrooms is usually a full day with a crew of two or three. We give you the expected time block in the written quote so you can plan the day around it.
What is the difference between a deep cleaning and a regular cleaning?
A regular cleaning maintains surfaces you use every week — counters, floors, toilets, mirrors. A deep cleaning goes after accumulation: grout, shower glass scale, baseboards, door frames, window tracks, range hood grease, vent covers, light fixtures and the space behind furniture. Different tools, different products, much more dwell time.
Do you clean inside the oven and refrigerator?
Yes, on request, and we would rather you ask for them explicitly. Both are slow jobs that need degreaser and dwell time, so they are quoted as part of the deep clean rather than assumed. Empty the fridge of food you want kept before we arrive.
When is the best time of year for a deep clean in New England?
Spring, once the house has been closed up all winter. Heating systems push dust onto every ledge for months, entries collect road salt and sand, and window tracks fill with grit. A single spring deep clean resets all of that. Late fall, before the house closes up again, is the second-best window.
Should I get a deep clean before starting recurring service?
If the home has not been professionally cleaned in the last six months, yes. Starting with a deep clean means your recurring visits actually maintain a clean house instead of chipping away at old build-up, and it keeps the recurring price lower because each visit is shorter.
